Studio E Architects is honored to announce that our zero net energy community for UC Davis at West Village has been awarded a 2013 Urban Land Institute’s Global Award of Excellence. ULI’s Global Awards for Excellence recognize the full development process of a project including its architecture and design. The criteria for the awards include leadership, contribution to the community, innovations, public/private partnership, environmental protection and enhancement, response to societal needs, and financial viability. West Village is one of twelve projects worldwide to receive the award. For the official press release and a complete list of winners, click here.
The jury was complimentary about the project’s authentic response to its climate, its place making and attentiveness to community and its environmental stewardship. The jury also saw West Village as an optimistic vision for what future development patterns could look like.
West Village is a public/private development by the team of Carmel Partners, Urban Villages and UC Davis on university property adjacent to the central campus.
We’d like to extend our congratulations to all involved in this extraordinary achievement.
